A vulnerability is just a data point. Security is the story we tell about that data to drive action. If you can’t make a C-suite executive understand why a CVE matters, you haven’t finished the hack.

Video Briefings: Brews 'n Hacks Channel

[My YouTube channel] is my primary "knowledge-sharing deployment." Here, I break down complex security concepts, perform lab walkthroughs, and show you how to build a security-first mindset from the ground up.

  • [Lab Walkthroughs]: From "Initial Access" to "Privilege Escalation," I document the process of prying open hardened boxes.

  • [The Home Lab Series]: Building a cyberpunk-inspired, terminal-based lab that doesn't just just help you upskill... it also looks super cool!

  • [Vulnerability Deep Dives]: Moving beyond the CVSS score to understand real-world impact.

The Specialization: Vulnerability Management

While I love a good exploit, my mission is defense-in-depth. I specialize in the "Critical Infrastructure Cyber Hygiene" program, focusing on:

  • Filtering the Noise: Helping teams ignore the 99% of "scanner trash" to fix the 1% of risk that keeps them awake at night.

  • Repeatable Workflows: Designing tools and ticketing processes (Jira, ServiceNow, Remedy) that actually work for human beings.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Bridging the gap between the SOC, the developers, and the board room.

Hack your learning curve!

Whether you're just starting out, or you've been in the cybersecurity world for a while, you'll need to stay current with today's cyber news and trends. While I don't mean to advocate the "fake it 'til you make it" approach, I vividly remember my early days of immersing myself in tech shows, feeling overwhelmed by the jargon and complexity. Until one day, it just clicked!

Here's how I stay current and what I recommend...

>_ ls /usr/bin/the-hacks | grep "daily"
  • [Daily Cyber Threat Brief]:
Dr. Gerald Auger goes deeper than the headlines to deliver us so much value, Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 9:00AM (Eastern). Plus, there's a 30min AMA session that follows to mentor at scale!

  • [Risky Biz News]:
Though this show is not five days per week, I still recommend it. These headlines are usually picked up by the other feeds, but sometimes hits extra stories on rare occasion. Plus, it's great to get a perspective outside of the US.

>_ ls /usr/bin/the-hacks | grep "weekly"
  • [Security Now]:
Steve Gibson and Leo Laporte have been in the computer science industry for a long, long time. There are still deep dives that go way over my head. But I promise you, it's like learning another language; fully immersing yourself in it will boost your learning momentum, tremendously!

  • [Risky Business]:
Besides it is a true fact that I just love Aussies, their accents, and their slang... it really is important to hear some cyber news stories from perspectives outside of the US.

  • [Srsly Risky Biz]:
So, this one has really interesting deep dives into unexpected avenues.
